The Schoenstatt Girls Youth is a Catholic youth organization for girls, ages 6 and up, which emphasizes love for the Blessed Mother and practical steps of growing in the faith. The spiritual focus of the youth organization is the shrine of our Lady of Schoenstatt. The Schoenstatt Youth is part of the International Schoenstatt Movement. Here are the class descriptions:
Mary’s Little Crowns: Girls from ages 6-9 years old (approx. Grades K5-3rd) belong to Schoenstatt as Mary’s Little Crowns. They strive to resemble Mary with the joy and dignity of a child worthy of a crown. This in turn gives Mary joy. In Sacred Scripture St. Paul tells his listeners, “You are my joy and crown” (see Philippians 4:1). This basic biblical message is reflected in Mary who loves and cherishes us as her joy and her little crowns.
The group meetings for Mary’s Little Crowns lead the girls to grow in love for Mary and the Church. They help the girls to make Catholic Marian Devotion a part of their everyday lives (for example, celebrating Marian feast days; praying the rosary; and an introduction to the names of Mary, pilgrimage places, and Mary’s virtues) and to learn how Schoenstatt honors our Lady.
Marian Apostles: Girls between 9-13 years old (approx. Grades 3rd-6th) belong to Schoenstatt as Marian Apostles. To be an apostle means to be a person who is given and sent on a mission. The girls strive to become apostles of Jesus, after the example of Mary the first apostle. As Marian Apostles, the girls want to lead all people to Jesus and Mary through their thoughts, words, and actions. The group meetings introduce the girls into the grace-filled history of Schoenstatt and the stories of young people who loved Mary and their faith. The girls take upon themselves basic commitments to the faith and strive to form their consciences in the choices they make.
Ver Sacrum Patris Youth: Girls 13 years old and above (Grades 7th-12th) join the Schoenstatt Girls’ Youth. They strive to become reflections of Mary with the desire to help lead the world homeward to the heavenly Father. The group meetings lead the girls along a path which includes: developing a personal value system which is influenced by faith; gaining self-knowledge about their own unique personality; coming to recognize and follow God’s providence in their lives; learning how to educate their personalities (self-education) into saints and everyday heroes for our modern world; discovering Schoenstatt’s history; and preparing for a consecration to the Mother Thrice Admirable, known in Schoenstatt as the covenant of love.
